General Question

Question you may have regarding our products.

Our jewelry is made of 925 sterling silver, stainless steel, or brass, and the stones used are high-quality cubic zirconia.

925 sterling silver is an alloy composed primarily of silver, with a small percentage of other metals added for durability and strength. The "925" in its name refers to the fact that it is made up of 92.5% pure silver, and the remaining 7.5% is typically composed of copper. This mixture is used because pure silver is relatively soft and can be easily damaged, so the addition of copper makes it more suitable for creating jewelry.

Stainless steel is generally considered hypoallergenic for most people. It is a popular choice for jewelry and many other products because it is non-reactive and does not contain common allergens. However, it's essential to keep a few factors in mind:

  • Quality and Composition: The quality and composition of stainless steel can vary. The most common type used for hypoallergenic purposes is 316L stainless steel, which is often labeled as "surgical stainless steel." This grade of stainless steel is less likely to cause skin reactions.
  • Nickel Content: While most stainless steel alloys used in jewelry are low in nickel content, they may still contain trace amounts. For individuals with a nickel allergy or sensitivity, even small amounts of nickel can potentially cause skin irritation.
  • PVD Coatings: Some stainless steel jewelry may have PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) coatings to change its color or enhance its appearance.

In general, stainless steel is a safe and hypoallergenic choice for most people, but it's important to be cautious and check the specific grade and composition of the stainless steel used in your jewelry if you have known allergies or sensitivities.

PVD, or Physical Vapor Deposition, is a thin-film coating process used to apply a decorative and protective layer to various materials, including metals, plastics, and ceramics

1. Process: PVD coating is a vacuum deposition process that takes place in a controlled environment, typically within a vacuum chamber. The process involves the following steps:

  • Evaporation: Solid coating materials, often in the form of metal ions or compounds, are vaporized by heating or ion bombardment.
  • Ionization: The vaporized material is then ionized using various methods, such as arc discharge, sputtering, or cathodic arc.
  • Deposition: The ionized vapor condenses on the surface of the substrate material, creating a thin and uniform coating layer.

2. Types of Coatings: PVD coatings can be made from various materials, including metals like titanium, chromium, and aluminum, as well as ceramics like titanium nitride (TiN) or zirconium nitride (ZrN). The choice of material determines the coating's properties, including color, hardness, and wear resistance.

3. Applications: PVD coatings are used in a wide range of industries and applications, including:

  • Decorative Finishes: PVD coatings are commonly used to change the color and appearance of products, such as jewelry, watches, and architectural elements.
  • Tool Coatings: PVD coatings are applied to cutting tools and wear-resistant components to increase their lifespan and performance.
  • Automotive: PVD coatings are used on vehicle trim, wheels, and exhaust systems for both aesthetics and corrosion resistance.
  • Medical Devices: PVD coatings are applied to surgical instruments and medical implants to improve biocompatibility and durability.
  • Electronics: PVD coatings are used on electronic components, such as microchips and connectors, to enhance performance and reliability.

4. Advantages: PVD coatings offer several advantages, including:

  • Enhanced Surface Hardness: PVD coatings can significantly increase the hardness and wear resistance of the coated material.
  • Improved Adhesion: The process creates strong bonds between the coating and the substrate.
  • Decorative Options: PVD coatings provide a wide range of color options, allowing for decorative finishes.
  • Environmental Benefits: PVD is an environmentally friendly process, as it produces minimal waste and hazardous byproducts.

PVD coatings are commonly used to enhance the appearance, durability, and performance of various products. They are especially popular in the jewelry and watch industry for creating attractive and long-lasting finishes on items like stainless steel or titanium.
